"I’m much fitter, and also I’m not scared anymore walking when it’s dark; It was difficult for me to leave the house even at 5 pm during winter season."
What made you start Krav Maga?
I always wanted to know how to defend myself. I heard of Krav Maga many years ago (about 8), but I couldn’t find any classes nearby.
How long have you trained Krav Maga?
I started in July 2016 (I don’t remember the exact date), basically on the first class which was available, when Adam Holmes opened his Direct Defence Krav Maga school in Worthing.
How many times a week do you train?
I train twice a week, wish I could train more, but personal circumstances don’t let me do it. I also go to all the seminars which DDKM organise and I take personal training every so often.
What benefits have you seen since starting Krav Maga?
I’m much fitter, and also I’m not scared anymore walking when it’s dark; It was difficult for me to leave the house even at 5 pm during winter season.
If you have graded what level are you?
I am level P2, hopefully become P3 by the end of March 2018. I wish to become an instructor in the future in women division and be able to teach women how to defend themselves from the attackers.
Do you have any other previous martial arts experience?
What do you like about DDKM?
To put it in simple words – everything. Adam, the instructor, is very professional and the students are great, with some I became friends.
What is your favourite Krav Maga technique?
I like everything, but I think my two of the favourites are choke defences and ground work.
Have you had to use Krav Maga in real life?
Describe a typical class?
We come in, have a warm-up for about 30 minutes – focusing especially on the parts of the body we will be using the most, then we work on techniques (depending what it is), and at the end we have a drill.
What have you achieved since starting Krav Maga?
I am much fitter and less scared person. And I achieved two “P’s” I also can stand for myself in the normal life, when someone isn’t nice to me verbally, I am less shy.
What is your favourite thing about Krav Maga?
It’s a difficult question, because I love everything about Krav Maga, the trainings, the culture, where it came from (Israel), the whole system itself. If I could I would train all day every day.
Would you recommend DDKM to a friend?
I always talk to friends about the benefits they could gain when training with DDKM. One of my friends (Marcin) joined few months ago.
Can you say a bit more about why you like training with DDKM?
I would definitely recommend DDKM. Adam Holmes is a great instructor who cares about students and trains them the best he can. He is very friendly and will push you to your own limits, always focusing on every student and correcting mistakes as soon as possible.
