What made you start Krav Maga?

I wanted to fight like Jason Bourne. My first google search was, 'How to fight like Jason Bourne?'

How long have you trained Krav Maga?

About 7 years, but I had a long break after I moved house and there was no local Krav classes until Adam opened a class in Littlehampton.

How many times a week do you train?

2-3 depending on how much time I have.

What benefits have you seen since starting Krav Maga?

I have lost weight and it helps with my fitness.

If you have graded what level are you?

P4.

Do you have any other previous martial arts experience?

No real experience, just a little judo when I was very young.

If yes, how does Krav Maga compare to other martial arts?

I can't make that comparison because it was so long ago.

What do you like about DDKM?

The Krav Maga part, fighting is a constant path of evolution.

What is your favourite Krav Maga technique?

Groin strike.

Have you had to use Krav Maga in real life?

Fortunately not.

Describe a typical class?

There is a brief warm up period, then some basic oiling and mobility exercises, then we concentrate on a particular technique, we drill the technique until it becomes ingrained. We then practice the technique under some sort of pressure, and if there is sufficient time we have a little warm down.

What have you achieved since starting Krav Maga?

I have got my P4 grading which was epic and a shock to the system after a long break between grading.

What is your favourite thing about Krav Maga?

There are no rules, create your own solutions to the problems.

Would you recommend DDKM to a friend?

I have, and actively promote DDKM to my friends .

Why?

Because I love Krav and I am passionate about the learning, self-defence is important in this day and age, sadly we don't live in a very friendly world.

Can you say a bit more about why you like training with DDKM?

A few years ago I was looking for a new job, it was the height of the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. There was a temptation to join the Private Military Contractor circuit. While researching one of the companies stated that all their operators where trained in Krav Maga. At the same time the film Bourne Identity came out, there is a fight scene while Jason Bourne fights a fellow assassin in his Paris flat, it was awesome. I then Googled "How to fight like Jason Bourne" and Krav Maga popped up. I booked my first lesson and I was blown away by the simplicity and the fact we don't wear white suits. We trained in a little dance studio, within 5 minutes I was sweating. My first lesson was great, dealing with front chokes.

I like the fact that there are no rules, the solutions to problems are simple and easy to learn. This is not art, this is purely martial. It appealed to me and one day I may be able to fight like Jason Bourne. I had not trained fro about 4 years when I started looking for classes in the west Sussex area, and I found DDKM and signed up straight away. Adam has been great in getting me back to the level I was at 4 years ago.
