What made you start Krav Maga?

My mum originally approached me and my brother about it last year (2018) and said we should look into it, but at the time I wasn't quite old enough to join but I was definitely interested in it. I think it's very important that I should know how to defend myself, especially being a young female. My brother then started it soon after we looked in to it, and every Tuesday night he would come back and tell me about what they did and it got me really excited for when I could start. The day after I turned sixteen I finally joined and it's been the best experience.

How long have you trained Krav Maga?

I'm coming up to two months now.

How many times a week do you train?

Only once every Tuesday.

What benefits have you seen since starting Krav Maga?

My stamina and confidence; I've certainly noticed an increase in my stamina over the past two months and I also feel a lot more confident when out and about. In addition to this, it's also a big helper in getting me to sleep, and provides something for me to look forward to each week which is nice when I haven't had a great day because I know I have Krav Maga to look forward to.

If you have graded what level are you?

I haven't yet had the opportunity to grade but I'm quite interested in doing so eventually.

What do you like about DDKM?

Everything! Everyone there is lovely and they always greet you with a smile, it's a great community. I also just love learning Krav Maga every week and the high-intensity work out it gives you.

What is your favourite Krav Maga technique?

I really enjoyed learning how to take down tackle someone alongside being able to defend against one.

Describe a typical class?

We'll all partake in a vigorous warm up for five to ten minutes, followed by some stretches, then we'll do some work either with a partner or solo which leads up to the main activity for the rest of the session.

What have you achieved since starting Krav Maga?

Improved fitness and quite a lot of bruises - at least this lets me know I'm working hard!

What is your favourite thing about Krav Maga?

Probably just learning the self defence each week.

Would you recommend DDKM to a friend?

Yes! There's so many pros to joining and I think it's crucial that we should all be able to live in the modern world safely.

Can you say a bit more about why you like training with DDKM?

Joining DDKM is one of the best decisions I've made, the community is brilliant and there are so many benefits to it - for example, you learn how to defend yourself whilst getting in shape. At every session you're given pointers to help you or more support if you need it, and it really doesn't matter what your current abilities or physique is because Krav Maga accommodates for everyone as you do what you're comfortable with and they're very respectful of that. It has helped me become the best version of myself and I can't wait to see my journey progress.
